Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 August 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how MHX Media ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the BackTrackR iPad application ("the App") and related support pages on backtrackr.app. We are committed to protecting your privacy and keeping things simple.

Summary

BackTrackR stores your songs, library and settings locally on your iPad. We do not sell your data, and we do not use analytics or advertising trackers in the App. Optional cloud import and library backup use your own Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive or Apple Files / iCloud accounts — not MHX Media cloud storage. Optional support tickets and TestFlight beta sign-ups use your email only when you contact us or join the beta.

Information stored on your device

The App stores the following data locally on your iPad:

Your library remains on your device unless you choose to export a backup to Files or to a cloud account you control. Song audio and library data are not uploaded to MHX Media servers.

Cloud import (Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive)

If you choose to import songs from Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive, the App uses standard OAuth sign-in provided by that service (Apple’s system authentication sheet). Access tokens are stored securely in your device’s Keychain. We do not receive or store your cloud password or OAuth tokens on MHX Media servers.

Cloud access only occurs when you actively choose to browse or import files from your own account (or folders shared with you by that provider). The App downloads the files you select into local storage on the iPad. We do not access your cloud storage in the background without your action.

When you use these features, Dropbox, Microsoft or Google process the sign-in and file transfer under their own privacy policies and terms. MHX Media is not the data controller for your Dropbox, OneDrive or Google account.

Library backup and restore

BackTrackR can export a portable library backup (songs, mixer presets, cue list, setlists and app settings) and restore it later. Destinations you can choose include:

Backup and restore use the same optional cloud sign-in as import (separate in-app session for backup browsers). Creating or updating a backup may upload files to a folder in your cloud account (for example folders named like BackTrackR_Backup_…). Restore downloads from a backup folder you select. OAuth tokens for cloud backup are stored in the device Keychain and are not included inside the backup archive itself — after restore on a new device you sign in again if you want cloud import or backup.

Backup archives are written only when you start Create backup / Update / Restore. They are not sent to MHX Media. If you save a backup to iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive, that provider stores the archive under your account according to their policies.

Support tickets

If you contact us via backtrackr.app/support.html or send a support request / diagnostic log from the App, we store the information you provide so we can help you. This typically includes your name, email address, message text, optional photo and video attachments, ticket status, and conversation history. Attachments are stored in our Cloudflare R2 bucket and are deleted when we permanently delete the ticket.

When you send a diagnostic log from the App, the upload may also include device model, app version/build, iPadOS version, audio routing details, and technical debug text. Song audio and lyrics are not included. If you paste third-party links (for example YouTube, Dropbox or Google Drive) in a support message, those services process the linked content under their own terms.

To view your tickets you can request a one-time sign-in link or code sent to your email. We store short-lived sign-in tokens and session tokens for that purpose. Support data is hosted on Cloudflare (D1 database and R2 object storage) under our control.

TestFlight beta sign-up

If you sign up via backtrackr.app/beta.html, we process the information you submit so we can run the beta and understand who is testing — musicians, engineers and production people often have different needs. This typically includes your name, email address, role, approximate number of jobs/events/shows per year, optional iPadOS version if you choose to share it, and any optional notes you write.

We email a copy to our support inbox and send you a confirmation. Apple TestFlight handles installation under Apple’s terms. We do not sell sign-up data or use it for advertising.

Third-party services

Depending on features you use, the following third parties may process data:

We do not sell personal data. Cloud providers only receive what is needed for the action you start (sign-in and the files you browse, import, upload or restore).

Information we do not collect

BackTrackR does not:

File sharing

The App supports iOS file sharing, which allows you to access App documents through the Files app on your iPad if you choose to enable it. This is entirely under your control and may include locations you open in iCloud Drive or other File Provider locations.

Background audio

BackTrackR uses background audio capability so playback can continue when the App is in the background during a live performance. No audio is sent to external servers.

Children's privacy

BackTrackR is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
